Management accounting research methods and their philosophical foundations

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the research methods of management accounting in terms of their philosophical foundations. The article discusses the nature and origin of social science research methods. Then it characterizes the quantitative and qualitative management accounting research methods with particular emphasis on the differences resulting from their diversity paradigm. This became the basis for discussions on the development of management accounting research methods.
