The Drama of Generational Value Horizons. Confrontations of Erdélyi Fiatalok (Transylvanian Youth) and Hitel (Credit) Reviews between 1935 and 1940

Summary/Abstract: Péter Cseke’s study investigates the self-organization of the young generation centered around the reviews Erdélyi Fiatalok (1930–1940) and Hitel (1935–1944) from a generational perspective. The two periodicals, Erdélyi Fiatalok and Hitel, had similar programmes, they both shared a self-critical stance in the spirit of Sándor Makkai’s Magunk revíziója (The revision of ourselves), they both called for the self-organization and knowledge of the Hungarian minority, stating that it had itself the solutions to its problems. This solution was of course imagined differently by the two groupings, since these came into being against the background of different historical needs.
