Summary/Abstract: At present, five different parts of the Upper Paleolithic site of Pushkari I have been excavated. While their flint inventory is very similar, they drastically differ in their landscape positions. It is argued that landscape of settlements had strong influence on origins and further transformations of cultural layers. It was shown that rather steep inclination of living surface of the western parts of Pushkari I led to formation of ortzand core which prevent cultural layer from moving its elements into upper horizons. Alternatively the central parts of the site underwent active weathering by sand and sand loam which covered the cultural layer. These processes resulted in cultural layer’s coming up to the modern surface level. The study explains why originating at the same time in a loamy stratumthe cultural layer varies in thickness and artifact capacity.
