Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes onyms (proper names) of this part of East Prussia which now is a part of Poland; in addition, these onyms have not been properly researched. These onyms were specified by Peter Germershausen in his study Siedlungsentwicklung der preußischen Ämter Holland, Liebstadt und Mohrungen vom 13. bis zum 17. Jahrhundert (The Development of Settlements in the Prussian Small Rural Districts of Paslenkas, Milakovas and Morongas in the 13th – 14th Centuries). Scholars took into consideration this source earlier; however, not all onyms were properly introduced to the scientific society, interested in the problems of Prussian proper names. As the Prussian language is a dead language, there exist few written monuments; on the other hand, many Prussian proper names and toponyms had been registered, and they add to the scientific knowledge concerning the Prussian language in general and its lexis in particular. The author of the article chose 39 Prussian oyconyms, 1 proper name and 1 hydronym. They were analyzed with respect to word-formation and origin; an attempt was made to restore their authentic forms when comparing them to the data of the East Balts proper names. The author, emphasizing the importance of the accumulated material of Prussian proper names, registered in manuscript sources, claims the relevance of researches, not necessarily conducted by linguists; such studies provide interesting and a solid basis for the investigation of Prussian proper names.
