Time for Scientific Investigations of Sąjūdis

Summary/Abstract: A. Gumuliauskas reviewed and evaluated the monograph by Česlovas Laurinavičius and Vladas Sirutavičius „Lithuania‘s History. Sąjūdis: from “Reorganization” till the 11th of March“. In the reviewer’s opinion, the title of the book is debatable as it does not correspond to the object of research; Sąjūdis could not be considered to be the only political history of Lithuania even in the period of the Revival movement. As the objects posed are rather wide, their realization seems to be superficial; the authors did not take into consideration the latest scientific and ethnographical works which analyze the Revival movement in major cities, some districts or even in small towns. The reviewer made a conclusion that the authors of the monograph had been more successful in their former researches than in this work to which future history researchers will refer while investigating the questions of Sąjūdis issue.
