Summary/Abstract: Nicolae Ceauşescu’s personality cult became more radical in the 1970s. After the presidential couple’s visit to Asia, the rhetorical and political transformations have accelerated, so that the Romanian political system and the discourse of party propaganda borrowed Maoist elements.The General Secretary observed during his visit the major efficiency of the propaganda, the fact that the power of Mao’s system was secured not only by security forces but also by the socialist consciousness inoculated in the population of China.
