Summary/Abstract: Written materials published in the press are a valuable documentary source for the reconstruction of the musical life of a city. The study presents the appearance of the first texts of musical criticismin Cluj, then analyzes the remarkable musical events of Cluj in the 20th century by the activity of István Lakatos, follower of the Brassai–Seprődi tradition.
