Summary/Abstract: Wielun is a county town situated in the southwestern region of the Lodz Province (about 70 north from Czestochowa), it is one of the oldest towns in Poland. Wielun was an important state and ecclesiastical administration centre during the Old Polish period. There was an archdeaconship, a monastic chapter, an officials office and a presbytery but there were also presbytery-related institutions and some monasteries. The officials office is associated with the term “consistory”. This term can be understood as a law court and a chancellery. In the introduction, the author shortly acquaints us with the officials office institution, changes within it and the office staff, starting from the beginning of the ecclesiastical court in Wielun in the Middle Ages. Thanks to this description, we can see the consistory activities from 1660 to 1763 and personal issues of that period.
