Summary/Abstract: Family businesses are the dominant form of activity in the world today, especially in continental Europe and the developing world. A large number of firms are actually controlled by families, either through direct control of shares or through indirect control mechanisms like pyramidal structures. Family businesses, due to their specificity resulting from the combination of business and family interests, are becoming more and more frequently the focus of research and management practitioners. It is looking for answers to the question of what distinguishes them and enables long-term functioning in the market. Out of many of the issues discussed in this article, the focus is on the influence of family property on the effectiveness of family businesses. The purpose of the study is therefore to evaluate the effects of family property on the financial results of family businesses. The analysis was based on the author’s literature, observations and research.
