Summary/Abstract: In the literary Czech studies we miss a necessary distance to recapitulate Czech prose in the period of “the two decades of democracy”, e. g. in 1989–2009, especially because it is a period that is not completely concluded. However, if we tentatively analyze these two decades it appears that in specific works there endure tendencies of late existentialism or post-existentialism adjoining procedures and attitudes that are characteristic for postmodern poetic and aesthetics. In both lines efforts to stylize literary shape and own storytelling has a key position. Especially after 2000 in Czech prosaic production – in particular in the works of younger authors – there grow specific phenomenological view of the world, new thematic paradigms and new type of author’s modeling of a story or motive appear.
