Summary/Abstract: The common trait of Polish economy during the last 45 years (1970-2015) is its growing foreign debt. The process started at the beginning of the 1970s and it has continued up until now. Poland’s debt in capitalistic countries determined our development for nearly 30 years, and the only solution (especially at the beginning of the 1990s) was the increase of export value to these states. Later on some other measures were taken and agreements with creditors were signed. Finally, the relation between foreign debt and GDP fell down from 66% in 1991 to 35% in 1996.
