Value for stakeholders in project and project portfolio assessment – basic assumptions and results of empirical research

Summary/Abstract: Due to the dynamic development of contemporary project management there are many changes to be observed within this filed. The change analyzed in this paper is related to the redefinition of project success and its effects in the focus on creating value for project stakeholders. The value created by a project seems to be the basis for the formulation and choice of project selection criteria. In the first part of this paper selected issues of project value and value for various stakeholders will be discussed. The complexity and multidimensionality of the concept will be underlined. In the next part, the results of empirical research on the perception of the importance of stakeholder value and on the comprising it within project evaluation criteria will be demonstrated.
