Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the transformations of art during the 20th century, from the avant-gardes to the present days, taking into account the notion of authorship, as well as the great diversity of artistic practices, conceptions, styles and ideologies. It is shown that the contemporary artists, for example, cultivate an iconoclastic attitude towards art, but seek also a way of implicating themselves in the great problems of the actuality (that doesn’t mean accepting a relationship with the political Power); they float between opposite attitudes (implication / des-implication, recess / activism) etc. This new position of the artists modifies profoundly the structure of artistic market, used and refused, deeply criticized and never accepted as it is.
