Summary/Abstract: Ms. Dean Ustamujić, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen of the audience, let me begin by saying how happy I am to be here with you tonight, particularly here in Mostar, celebrating Black history month of February. What we are actually celebrating is the progress in the struggle of a minority, African-American minority in the United States of America, to move from slavery to full citizenship, to gain civil rights that the majority had possessed for a long time, for several centuries. In other words, we are here to remind ourselves of the long and sometimes arduous road from slavery to Barack Obama's recent announcement, quite impressive and plausible one, that he will run for president of the United States. The festivities of the Black History Month were started in the USA as early as 1926. The month was chosen because birthdays of the great abolitionist Frederick Douglas (1817-1895) and of the great emancipator Abraham Lincoln are in February.
