War in the memories of Mary Kuncewiczowa

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the contexts from the autobiographical works of Mary Kuncewiczowa on World War II. They show how the writer perceives and interprets this time as an immigrant. Material language used by Kuncewiczowa captures the wartime tragedy, which she witnessed, very vividly (comparisons, metaphors) and suggestively (evaluative lexis).This analysis confirmed that the texts memoir sallow the manifestation of subjectivity in very special way – revealing the mentality, reflective nature and sensitivity of the author.
