Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to present a specific group of lexemes in the Old-Bulgarian translation of the Book of Jeremiah (Baruch, Lamentations, Epistle of Jeremiah) which is thematically bound with the translations of other books of the Old Testament and which can be labeled as "thematically determined vocabulary". The lexemes known from other works of a proven Preslav origin prevail in the whole text. As a specific layer the thematically determined vocabulary can be separated from them, part of which features hapaxes which haven't been recorded in the lexicographic manuals; another part are words only noted after the text of Jeremiah, or words present in other translations of the Old Testament. The study shows that each of the Old Testament books should be explored both with view of its genre and its specific lexical features as well, which are connected also with the individual choices or the translator's style (translator's circle) – as part of the process of forming the lexical literary norm for a specific type of biblical translations such as the prophetic books and hence for other Old Testament texts.
