Summary/Abstract: Psychiatric health care raises multiple ethical and legal discussions. The informed con¬sent is an im-portant aspect in psychiatric health care, and confidentiality is an ethical principle that must be ob-served. The de-stigmatisation of the patient with psychiatric disorders is a challenge currently for Romania, EU member state. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the family doctors' perception regarding the ethi¬cal and legal aspects in psychiatric health care. The study is prospective, performed on medical personnel involved in psychi-atric health care of the patients with psychological disorders. Consequently, the research population was of 50 family doctors involved in the hospitalisation of the patients with psychological disorders from the medical centres of Iași, Suceava, Botoșani and Vaslui. The study is descriptive, organised as a questionnaire, and it was conducted in the period July 2012 - July 2013. Results. A high percentage of family doctors consider that the socio-professional reinsertion would be compromised if the personal data of the patient with psychological disorders were not kept confidentially. Conclusions. Stigma is a phenomenon bringing important prejudices to the individual by discrimination and social marginalisation. The family doctors could have an important role in the de-stigmatisation of the patients with psychological disorders.
