Summary/Abstract: The research was carried out to determine the depression levels, socio-demographic characteristics and sociodemographic variables of depressed individuals in relation to depression. The research was descriptive and carried out on October 2017 in the Rest Home Unit of the Geriatric Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center affiliated to the Bilecik Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. The universe of the study is composed of 33 elderly people living in Bilecik nursing home. As a means of collecting data in the research, Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) was used to determine the depression levels of elderly people living in nursing home and Personal Information form consisting of 22 questions including socio-demographic variables and self-disclosure information of the elderly. SPSS 21.0 statistical program was used in the study. In the statistical evaluation of the data obtained from the research; Descriptive analysis is applied to show frequency analysis, percentile calculation, mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values. Correlation Analysis was used to calculate the direction and severity of the relationship between the two variables. Student T-test and F-tests / ANOVA were used to test whether the scales used differed according to the demographic information of the participants. According to the results obtained from the research; the depression level of elderly people living in nursing homes is high (18,53 ± 7,16), 13,3% of the elderly people in the nursing home show possible signs of depression, 70% of them show definite depression and the depression level of individuals and participation in gender and social affairs (p <0,05) were found to be statistically significant.
