Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the ecolingustic perspective in theoretical glottodidactics. The description of general models of glottodidactics and its heuristic value is the starting point. However, even a brief overview of different models shows that the organization of language education is strictly involved in wider socio-cultural context, which in effect connects glottodidactics with language policy. Recognizing the ideological background of language education, the author discusses the thesis that didactics of multi- or plurilingualism (with respect to the language rights) in ecolinguistic approach may be regarded as the inspiring offer for contemporary glottodidactics.
