Summary/Abstract: In the article, I assume that glottodidactics in not a linguistic domain. This is the reason why we need to search for a new definition of the language being taught, which would be independent from linguistics. The language should be defined through philosophy, anthropology and ethnography. I question the belief that teaching one’s native language as foreign can be treated as standard glottodidactic practice, since the cultural space of such teaching is something more than active background. It arises from our consciousness, it locates in our subconsciousness and it exemplifies in multiple ways where we belong nationally, culturally and linguistically.
