Summary/Abstract: In the 21st world of communication, the image of the translator as amiddleman, as a “purveyor” between two more or less remotecultures is still the order of the day.Nobody raises objections to the translator’s position as mediatorbetween the two texts, between the two cultures. Even ifapproaching translation by means of accuracy seems to be null andvoid, giving thought to the accuracy of the translator’s point of viewseems to us an opportunity to clarify its implicit information (whattype of accuracy, towards who, towards what, with what intention, why?) This being the case, we intend to ask again the question ofidentity in a slightly different way because, more than ever, the issueof the Other and the Same remains at the heart of the thought ontranslating practice
