POETIC IMAGES OF POLISH CULTURE

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses various ways of approaching cultural phenomena in the process of foreign language teaching. The key element of the teaching process is the creation of the intercultural competence – for that reason the concepts of teaching culture, that is the criteria for selecting issues to be presented, as well as the usage of examples are very important. In this perspective, various pieces of literature are an invaluable source of cultural knowledge. As an example, I present a poem by Stanisław Baliński, titled De passage à Paris.
