Summary/Abstract: Every society is directed by certain rules and regulations which form the basis of its activity. For modern communities the tolerance principle is acquiring ever greater meaning and importance. This work examines what tolerance is and how it is historically conditioned. Moreover, it reflects on the question of its limits. A spirit of tolerance is an attribute of mature, just and prudent men. A Christian learns this attitude from God. Christ points out the need for this kind of attitude in the parable of weeds.
