Summary/Abstract: Great hopes are put on stem-cells experiments, as they show new possible treatments for terminal diseases whose complete cure could only be dreamed of before. In this long and ongoing research, the ethical question must not be overlooked. This is so because progress is to be measured by the good which it provides for the well-being of humankind, both materially and spiritually. Financial profits, which are now to be expected in the field of medicine and biomedical technology, can by no means justify actions which would threaten the inviolability of human life. Every possible step should therefore be taken to ensure that the increasing knowledge base of this field is wisely deployed for the objective good of every human life.
