Summary/Abstract: This paper offers a brief historical overview of the key changes in the organizational structure of the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, primarily due to frequent changes in the state-legal framework and shifts of different ideologies in the 20th century, with a special focus on the so called “Austrian Heritage“. The paper is mainly based on the original archival materials and offers a more detailed view of the approach and method by which the „Austrian Heritage“ was deleted from key organizational acts of the Islamic Community during the late 1950s.
