THE ALBANIAN TRADITION OF FIRE FROM THE ETHNOMEDICINE VIEWPOINT

Summary/Abstract: In this paper I will treat one of the main elements of the cosmos the fire in the Albanian folk beliefs and its surrounding, which are offered to the reader through archival research, focusing on the sacral act of burning wild fire as a practice for the benefit of health, and there will be examined the element of fire as a protagonist of a good social life. We will also focus on the inclusion and destruction of black magic, as one of the practices for and on the people, a destruction that can only be achieved through the fire, as the creator and destroyer of the world but which is considered successful only through it.
