ARCHIVAL PROFESSION OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Summary/Abstract: In the introductory part, the paper gives a short history of archival activity in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This particular emphasis is placed on the Austro-Hungarian period, when, however, there was no archives, but the archival material was systematically kept. Further along we are analyzing the establishment of the first archives in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Socialist Yugoslavia. The focus is on the current organization of the archival service in Bosniaand Herzegovina. In short it can be said that the archival service in Bosnia and Herzegovina follows the territorial organization defined in 1995 by the Dayton Peace Agreement. This would mean that the Bosnia and Herzegovina Archive, at the entity levels of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Archive, the Republika Srpska Archive and the Archives of the Brcko District, operates on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and on the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, several Cantonese / Cantonal archives. in Mostar, Sarajevo, Bihac, Tuzla, Travnik and Gorazde. Archives were not established in the cantons centered in Livno, Orašje and Zenica. The paper also presents the presentation of legal and subordinate acts to which the archives mentioned are established or exercises their competences.
