Summary/Abstract: The second house in the term of second housing refers the aim of usage of the house. The second house is an additional house besides main house and it is used only certain periods of time during years. Second houses, are also know secondary houses, are usually built for tourism purpose for their owners and owners use them for relaxation and entertainment during their vacation. The secondary housing tourism was firstly started by Babylon and after World War II, it started to become popular in the world; however, in Turkey, the secondary housing tourism has started to develop after 1980. In 1970, the Ministry of Development and Housing specified the high potential of tourist development at Sazlıdere, Gökçetepe, Mecidiye, Erikli, Danişment, Yayla, Karaincirli, Büyükevren, Vakıf, Sultanice, Gülçavuş, Enez, which are located on Gulf of Saros. However, in 40 year period, the levelin terms of tourist facilitiesin the region has not reached the expected level yet.Both the Culture and Tourism Conservation and Development Area in 2006 and Council of Ministers in 2010 declared an approximately 73.000 hectares in the Gulf of Saros as a special protected area. After that, like other tourism activities in the region, secondary housing tourism also developed. There are approximately 15.222 second house in thirteen settlements.
