Creativity as an essential component of students’ competence

Summary/Abstract: The constant growth in the demand for creative individuals, seen lately, stems from the fact that the development of a country largely depends and will depend on the level of young citizens’ education, creativity and willingness to respond quickly to changes. Therefore, education at all levels should be directed at personal development of a learner (a student), and take into account the subjectivity (the attribute of man as a person and the primary objective of their development). The article presents the results of preliminary studies on the level of the individual dimensions of the creative attitude of students (n = 217), taking into account gender differences to show what creative potential they have. The theoretical basis for the analysis is the concept of creative attitude by S. Popek (1988, 2001). The research was carried out by use of KAHN I – Creative Behaviour Questionnaire.
