Summary/Abstract: Pope Leo XIII announced a program-like battle against liberalism at the end of the 19thcentury. He created and promoted associations which were entitled to create a literature that could protect the Church from liberals attacks and to educate conscious Catholic believers. The Transylvanian diocese was also reacting this call: in its different newspapers and journals continuously appeared the poems, novels and others horter texts that were fulfilling the requirements. This study is analyzing the viewpoint of Catholic critique, giving an insight into the more important devotional texts with a special attention to the poems of Csiszér János.
