Summary/Abstract: In this study I have tried to better understand the relationship between Denys the Areopagite’s work and the neoplatonic philosophy. The interest in Denys stems from the attempt to mediate between two dimensions of his work: theology and philosophy. I have pointed out the hardships of a balanced and integrative approach in the field of research on corpus areopagiticum and showed a few examples of surpassing the established, limitative view on Denys coming from historically entrenched positions. As we are to find out, the fundamental and volatile problem is to establish the real meaning behind Denys's intensions when he plays with the facets of his discoursive identity: apostolic christian and neoplatonic philosopher
