THE ASSESSMENT OF CONVERGENCE OF THE EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES USING THE SELECTED INDEXES

Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to assess the convergence of EU countries in the years 1995-2015. Socio-economic development (measured by the HDI index) and environmental performance (measured by the EPI index) were analyzed. The trend functions for the surveyed indicators were estimated and their differentiation was assessed. The analysis shows the convergence of the new member states with the old members in the area of socio-economic development and stabilization in the area of environmental performance.
