Summary/Abstract: A brief comment on the features of “Romanian Democracy”, taken as an “original” one, even among the East-Europe’s new democracies. The main objection is that one cannot neither assess the degree of democratic processes and effectiveness of the political and economical institutions just by stipulating necessary conditions for a democratic system, nor claim that a democracy built on poverty is superior to autocracy just on statistic basis. The Romanian case proves that these convictions are illusory and may prove to be dangerous for the maturity of a democratic electorate. The conclusion is that we must take into account in our endeavors to find solutions for a non-effective democratic system.
