Summary/Abstract: The new philosophy of management, assigning a strategic role to buildinga competitive advantage, value or profitability is gaining an increasing importance. This isthe result of the evolution of the current business environment, which has a significant influenceon procurement as well. In this situation, purchasing decisions require: new knowledgeand skills, new technologies and innovation. In their study, the authors pay attentionto these new trends, including new concepts and technologies in the context of their roleand impact on the function of purchasing.
