The use of the educational theater as a methodological device in Bulgarian language and literature education is important for the professional training of future teachers in the formation of cultural competences. That is why it is necessary to create teaching techniques that are tailored to the needs of both pedagogical and theatrical interaction. The theatrical forms of interpretation of an artistic work are widely represented in the State Educational Requirements and in the curricula of Bulgarian language and literature. The aim of this study is to reveal the possibilities of the educational theater to form cultural competences necessary for the pedagogical activity of future teachers. The application of the educational theater as a method of learning leads to the formation of cultural competences through which the future pedagogue discovers and values the creativity and talent of each child. Students have been taught to form game-focused culture in order to overcome the fear of appearing in the audience, to improve communication skills, to develop vocal-speaking and plastic skills and to build aesthetic criteria for theater arts.
