Summary/Abstract: The text describes the position and concept of error in the key documents that organize the work of every teacher, i.e. the Framework Education Program in the Czech Republic, and in the textbooks as the most important didactic tool for teaching. The context of the study is the teaching/learning of French as a (second) foreign language. The result of the research is a confirmation of the frequent absence of a deeper textual evidence to motivate the teachers to develop a better understanding of the notion of error in the examined documents and textbooks, which relativizes the efforts to reallychange the everyday approach to this fundamental issue for teaching and learning.
