Project Management Maturity Model as a Management Tool for University

Summary/Abstract: This paper intends to analyze the opportunities to use the IPMA Project ExcellenceModel as a tool that supports management and development processes in universitiesor higher education institutions. It starts with presentation of project maturityconcepts and models. Then, an overview of incentives encouraging adoption of a projectmanagement maturity model in a university is provided. These include not only anevolving paradigm of university role in the society and economy but also a diversity ofproject types that universities implement. Finally, the paper gives insights into the areasof university management that support adoption of the IPMA Project Excellence Model.
