Summary/Abstract: According to the renowned Hungarian specialist the history of journalism analyses the evolution of mankind from a different point of view than other branches of science, so it can be regarded as a standalone discipline. Dr. Géza Buzinkay focuses on the problems regarding the vision on the history of jurnalism that arose in the academic circles in the eighties and expresses his own point of view regarding the state of this science today. We can find out why the author regards history of journalism such an important topic in teaching journalism and why it isn’t present in the academic world of Transylvania.
