Equivalence in EU banking regulations – concept and importance

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the importance of equivalence principle for EU trade in banking services. In the short time perspective the EU trade in banking services with third countries is predicted to increase due to the extension of the geographical scope of the principle, although retail and corporate banking sector will be less affected. In the long time perspective this trade will develop mainly under the influence of Brexit.
