The role of instant instruments in the banking clearing process in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to examine the role of retail instant payment systems on Polish payment market. In this paper authors use a research results of survey conducted in cooperation with the Polish Banking Association, where was included 23 commercial banks and 11 cooperative banks. The main development conditions for payment systems in Poland were established. It has been shown that instant payment systems gain importance while modern electronic economy is developing. The fastest growing range of these systems, in relation to other payment systems in Poland, suggest that customers will notice usefulness of this type of payment services, which is a positive effect of a large network of potential recipients of payments, which will be reflected in the increasing number of transactions.
