Summary/Abstract: The author argues that there is need for professional development of teachers working with children and youth with specific needs, not only because of the peculiarities of the work, but also because of the multidisciplinary field. The emphasis is put on the importance of supervision, personal experience and self-reflection, participation in professional groups and professional guilds.
