Summary/Abstract: A military space race is taking place. For many years, the state has been improving space technologies, and the opportunities that science achievements has made them the problem of placing weapons in space takes on weight. The pursuit of states to consolidate their position in space makes agreement on the peaceful use of outer space and celestial bodies declared in the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies of 1967 appear to be fiction. In the absence of goodwill on the part of states that are space powers, it is difficult to count on suppressing the process of reinforcement in space. International space law regulates the problem of militarization of space in a fairly general and limited way. But can we, in the existing legal solutions, justify the broader approach to banning the introduction of weapons into space? This question is addressed to this article.
