Summary/Abstract: A pressing problem for Romania is the local responsibility for the quality of education and school success, which requires different ways of establishing relations of cooperation between schools, families and communities. Partnerships between schools, families and communities can: assist teachers in their work; enhance students' academic skills; improve study programmes and school climate; improve parents' educational skills; develop parents’ leadership skills; connect families to school and community members; encourage community service for the schools’ benefit; provide services and support for families; create a safer environment in schools.
