Summary/Abstract: Nowadays, in the context of globalization, the risks of loss of cultural and national identity are very high. Starting from the premise that we exit as a nation and not as a population only as long as we constantly relate to our own symbols, rituals, customs and traditions, a research as the one carried out by professor Ion H. Ciubotaru on the Catholic communities in the Iaşi Diocese, was urgent and necessary. The profound and creative recognition of the rituals performed during the sacred period between Christmas and the Epiphany, for example, can contribute to (re)building the Romanians’ national spiritual being. Professor and ethnologist Ion H. Ciubotaru of Iaşi has a special merit in this regard.
