Summary/Abstract: In this article I examine the relationship between personal identity and the nation as a socio-political identity in the contemporary social world of globalism, globalisation and transnational processes. The main thesis of this work is that personal identity cannot be objectified without specific political and cultural forms of social organisation and the state within the era of modernity and contemporaneity which are formed and determined through discourses, norms and practices of what is designated as immanent nationalism.
