Summary/Abstract: In 1886-1887 Prince Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha is one of the main candidates for the vacant throne of the Principality of Bulgaria. Till May 1887 we can note Ferdinand’s strong interest for the Bulgarian crown - an interest undergone ups and downs according to the international situation and because of the character of the candidate. After this date, we have reason to believe that Prince Coburg began purposefully to prepare himself for his new future as ruler of Bulgaria and devoted the last two months to the mission, crowned with Ferdinand’s investiture on August 2th/14th 1887. The article offers a unique proof of this thesis.
