Summary/Abstract: The overall change of the political and social environment is causing that young people are not motivating to enter the marriage. At the same time, informal partnership, cohabitation, not only in Slovakia, but in most post-industrial countries, have become massively expanded during the last decades and have become a common form of partnership. The paper presents a research focusing on exploring attitudes towards marriage and cohabitation from the perspective of three generations. The research was conducted in January – April 2017 on a sample of respondents, which was composed of representatives of three generations – students, parents, old parents. The aim was to map public opinion on current trends in family behavior from the perspective of three generations, with emphasis on attitudes towards marriage and non-marital cohabitation. Research has shown that respondents' views on the examined marriage and cohabitation are statistically significant depending on the respondent's belonging to the generational group.
