Summary/Abstract: The article introduces the history of the research into the biggest Slovenian sub-dialect group, i.e. the Dolenjska sub-dialects. The subject kept arousing interest from the 16th century mainly in the Slovenian as well as the wider European territory. The article brings a commented overview of the research into Slovenian dialects paying special attention to the research into the Dolenjska and East-Dolenjska sub-dialects and dialectological phenomena related to the sub-dialects in question.
