Summary/Abstract: The present study investigates different conceptual phenomena in Albanian syntax by comparing the most contemporary approaches to syntactic theories with the perspectives of Albanian traditional syntacticians, deriving mainly from the most dominant grammatical schools based on prescriptivism. Furthermore, it gives an original classification of Albanian subordination, in the phrase and the clause level. Mono-headed and two-headed phrase units, different functional components of phrase and clause structure, typology of semanticity in the verb argumentation in Albanian, and obligatoriness versus optionality of verb complementation have been treated thoroughly. The classification of subordinate clauses represents the first such classification in the Albanian language, simplifying it into the three main pillars and grounding it on the type of the argumentation that is governed by the main verb in the sentence. Furthermore, such a classification is being subcategorized into its structural types and into its semantic types representatives.
