Summary/Abstract: Published and printed in 1980 at the Tana Publishing House, the short story written by Mircea Eliade Youth without youth brings to the foreground the elements representing the fantastic established allready by the writer. It is grouped around a fundamental theme: the relationship between the sacred and the profane and it recommends, as a solution to the spirit, what the prose writer calls the "lesson of the show." The whole universe of the work abounds in mythic and symbolic elements: the temporal myth, the idea of biological regeneration, the myth of the labyrinth, symbolical places (the cave, the church) and symbolical facts (the lightening). All these are meant to train the reader to an involved reading, but especially to re-reading, a process that highlights every substrate of the novel.
